On Sunday, April 14, two now familiar scene’s were played out at the Masters as the world’s greatest golfers battled for the fabled Green Jacket. Having posted a third round 66, Woods played steady, and sometimes spectacular golf on Sunday to capture his third Masters. He joined Jack Nicklaus (1965 – 66) and Nick Faldo (1989 – 90) as the only players to successfully defend their title. Battling Woods was an all-star cast including Reteif Goosen, Phil Mickelson, Jose Maria Olazabal, Ernie Els, Padraig Harrington, Vijay Singh and Sergio Garcia. It was a memorable week beginning Wednesday when a record five holes-in-one was recorded during the annual Par 3 Contest. Toshi Izawa equaled a 34 year old Masters Mark when he scored consecutive aces during the event. On Thursday, the memories were bittersweet when Arnold Palmer announced this would be his last competitive Masters. Known simply as the king, Palmer won four Masters and thrilled countless patrons during his 48 consecutive appearances. Masters veteran Davis Love III and Vijay Singh were atop the leader board Thursday and Friday respectively and Woods and Goosen shared top honors when Saturday closed. Players and patrons alike now had only one day to wait to see if Tiger could defend. The official video of the 2002 Masters contains pictures not seen on television. Be part of the tradition of an April week in Augusta, Georgia and relive the Highlights of the 2002 Masters Tournament.
